In Feb 2022, four riders from Ashburton took part in the first leg of Tour Aotearoa, a 3000km cycle brevet from Cape Reinga to Bluff. In the process they managed to raise a staggering $103,318 for the Rescue Helicopter service.
The Rescue Warriors, as they are known, have just announced that they will bravely be taking on the Tour Aotearoa route next year, this time with two teams – one riding e-bikes from Cape Reinga to Bluff, and the second riding muscle bikes from Bluff to Cape Reinga. Once again, they have chosen to raise funds for the regional rescue helicopter service, specifically Mission 2026.
The Hinds & Districts Lions have contributed $10,000 as the inaugural donation and we extend a huge thank you to them for that.
