IFR Pilot Edward Fry talks about why he came home to fly the H145

Rescue helicopter pilot Edward

Edward is a pilot on the Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopter. He’s here because he heard a modernised fleet of state-of-the-art H145 helicopters was on its way to the service.

“The H145 brought me back. These machines are going to revolutionise our rescue helicopter service.”

After learning to fly in Christchurch, Edward has flown around the world including air ambulance and fire fighting roles in the USA. He’s thrilled to be back home, serving his community.

Edward says the H145 helicopter is the ideal machine for our challenging environments.

“The H145 is more powerful, giving us increased performance and reliability. Its advanced avionics include features like auto-hover, which will provide far greater stability.”

The H145 helicopters can also be flown using Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) which means they can can fly in more adverse weather.

This Christmas, Edward’s wish is to get these helicopters in the air.

“The H145 is hands down the best machine you can have for air ambulance work and we’re going to have a whole fleet of them. Please give generously so we can provide life-saving care when it’s needed most.

“Help us save more lives, more often.”
