NZZC West Coast Crew News
Canterbury and the West Coast need your support this Chopper Appeal.
The NZCC West Coast rescue crew have had a busy few months so far this year. The crew have attended over 70 missions in 2019, with mission numbers expected to increase as we head into the winter months.
Members of the West Coast crew visited Christchurch recently to take part in boat winch training in Lyttelton. Water rescue training is essential for all crew members. The crew needs to complete an extensive schedule of training components to ensure they are prepared for every mission scenario.
The crew cover an area of 23,276km² across the West Coast and complete on average over 290 missions each year. Some of the areas the crew rescued patients from this year include Fox Glacier, Westport, Punakaiki, Lewis Hutt, Lake Kaniere, Reefton, Arthurs Pass and many more remote locations. Accessing some of these areas with medical equipment would not be possible without a rescue helicopter. This Chopper Appeal we ask for your donations to help us keep the rescue helicopter in the skies as your community’s safety net.
