The Trust has recently bought Mechanical CPR machines for each of the bases. These allow our Critical Care Paramedics to perform CPR in a more consistent way than is possible manually and to continue CPR in the helicopters on the way to hospital when that is needed. This hasn’t been possible in the past and is a huge step forward in ensuring that we give our patients the best possible outcomes.
Each base now has a machine available to them and training is ongoing to ensure that all staff are able to use them.
The images show Peet training in the Greymouth ROA Mining Rescue hanger and Scott and Kaz practicing here in Christchurch. All are using the machine on one of our life-like mannequins, a great training tool to ensure our crew are ready.
