Further strengthening their support for the youngest members of our community, the Lindsay Foundation has renewed its commitment to the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust in 2022. With their mission to support individuals and organisations making a positive difference in New Zealand, Lindsay Foundation has generously chosen to continue its support of Canterbury’s Westpac Rescue Helicopters and the West Coast’s ROA Mining Rescue Helicopter in the delivery of emergency helicopter services to paediatric patients in our regions.
Each year, the Rescue Helicopters transport over 100 paediatric patients from around the regions to tertiary hospital services in Christchurch and Greymouth. These patients are critically unwell children and young people, who require urgent clinical care and access to specialist medical facilities following an accident or medical event. For the patients and their families, the Rescue Helicopter Service provides a lifeline at their time of greatest need.
Following several years of disruption to community fundraising, first with the longer-term impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, and more recently by the economic impact of inflationary pressures, knowing where the next dollar is coming from to keep the service operating has become paramount. Lindsay Foundation has sought to ease some of that pressure, by awarding a multi-year funding agreement that will see them supporting the annual cost of Rescue Helicopter paediatric missions through until 2024.
Alongside their existing support for paediatric patients in the care of the New Zealand Flying Doctor Service, Lindsay Foundation continues to make an incredible commitment to supporting the children and young people of our region in order to meet their health needs, now and into the future. On behalf of all our team, the pilots, clinical crew, staff and Trustees, as well as our patients and their families, we THANK YOU Lindsay Foundation for your incredible gift of life.
