Road Accident Remembrance Day 2020

The Road Traffic Accident Trauma Charitable Trust hold an annual Road Accident Remembrance Day. This year it was on Sat 28th November in North Hagley Park, just next to Lake Victoria.
The day is about acknowledging survivors and those who have tragically lost their lives, recognising and thanking those involved in post accident care and recovery, disseminating important road safety messaging and presenting the Canterbury Road Trauma Awards.
Katherine Townend, Medical Director of GCH Aviation gave a speech about the care of trauma patients and Rick Knight, Crew Chief of the Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service helped read out the names of the victims of road accidents over the past year.
It was a very moving service and we all felt humbled to be sitting with the families of those that have lost their lives. Sarah Dean, founder of the Trust gave a moving speech to close the day. Each year we just hope there are less names read out.
Please do take extra care on the roads these holidays
Christine Prince – CEO Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust
