Raising funds by cycling New Zealand
“The Rescue Warriors” are a group of gentlemen from the Ashburton area who have all committed to cycling the Tour Aotearoa 2022 Brevet event to raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
At an average age of 62, “The Rescue Warriors” decided the 3,000km Tour Aotearoa Bike Tour would be a great way to prove that their bodies are not yet ready for retirement. In February 2022, Willy Leferink, David Keeley, Bruce Kell and Warren Harris will attempt to defy the odds – and their age – and bike 3,000km from Cape Reinga to Bluff in 25 days.
You can follow their progress on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TheRescueWarriors
They have also set up a Givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/rescue-helicopter-bike-3000km with a target of raising $25,000. Like many thousands of Cantabrians, their motivation for raising funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter comes from personal experience of the service. Get behind their efforts and cheer them on as they attempt this herculean challenge.
