On Saturday 2nd March Mt Hutt is holding a summer open day (www.discovermthutt.co.nz) in conjunction with the Methven Lions Club. Thank you to Methven Lions and Mt Hutt for choosing to support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service at their Open Day this year.
“Discover Mt Hutt” is a community fundraiser with members of the Methven Lions Club, Mt Hutt Ski Area staff, and the bus drivers of Methven Travel all giving their time to welcome visitors to the mountain. All proceeds will be distributed to local community groups and 50% of the day’s proceeds will be gifted to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service
Mt Hutt’s massive six-seater chairlift will carry families, walkers, bikes and bikers to the summit where, weather permitting, they will be able to enjoy unrivaled views of the Southern Alps and Canterbury Plains. Visitors will be able to descend on the chairlift or walk or bike down from the summit. Live music, market stalls, bar & cafe & BBQ, scenic helicopter rides, ski area inner-workings tour, and a super slip & slide will also entertain visitors.
Christine Prince, CEO of Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue, is thrilled that the Methven Lions Charitable Trust has chosen to support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with proceeds from the Discover Mt Hutt Open Day. “We could not provide this lifesaving service, without the generous support of the community. Every dollar really does make a difference – the crew operate 24/7 completing over 900 missions a year. Thank you to all the visitors to Discover Mt Hutt for their support.”
