The busy summer period has given way to the cooler months. However, there has been no let-up for the crew of Christchurch’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. Autumn’s lower temperatures and high rainfall have contributed to keeping the Rescue Helicopter service busy over the last 3 months. In addition with this year’s early snow, the service is gearing up for a very busy winter ahead!
In contrast, after a record-breaking summer period, which saw the West Coast’s NZCC Rescue Helicopter respond to an average of 31 Emergency Medical Service (EMS) missions per month, the Rescue Helicopter crew is appreciating a reprieve from the hectic pace before the winter months set in, bringing with them the anticipated increase in medical retrievals and patient transfers.
