Easter Message from the Crew

Keep safe outdoors this Winter

A message from the Air Rescue crew with their tips for staying safe in the upcoming Winter months.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Crew urge you to take care. Whatever you get up to, whether you are gathering with friends and family, planning an outdoor activity or hitting the slopes, plan ahead  so that you are prepared.
The weather can change in an instant;  fine days can quickly deteriorate into foggy, cold or wet conditions – it is important to anticipate this and equip yourself accordingly. It is always a good idea to check the Department of Conservation and/or Metservice websites for regular updates on the conditions you are venturing into.
If you are planning to celebrate with friends and family then please make sure you do so responsibly; look after yourself and your mates.
Be cautious when travelling and drive to the conditions; the 2019 road toll is already tragically high – lets ensure the numbers don’t increase any further these holidays. The roads will be busy, so take care and be patient.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter will be there if you need us, but we sincerely hope your Winter doesn’t include us!
On behalf of the Air Rescue crew we wish you a safe and happy Winter!
