Thanks to our wonderful supporters, we have raised over $190,000 – this will fund 38 life-saving missions this winter period. But we need to raise more; with an average of 3 missions every 24 hours, we need to raise another $60k to save a further 12 lives.
Winter is upon us and we have seen this reflected in the steady increase in mission numbers across the Canterbury and West Coast regions. Cold, wet weather and icy roads lead to more accidents; whether at work, in leisure pursuits or on the roads. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter responds any time, day or night, to help those in need across our region.
Earlier this month, during the first week of June, the crew were called to two serious motor vehicle accidents, severe abdominal pain, concussion, a cardiac incident and a search and rescue call-out. Missions included a complicated off-shore winch with a critically ill patient and even the rescue of an injured police dog, Kosmo, who you may have seen on the news.
When you make a donation it goes to support patients like these. You, a loved one, a friend or colleague could be one of the 50 people who may need our help over this busy winter period. It is forecast to be a bad winter;please help us be ready, make a donation today.
