Air Rescue Ambassador: Willie McBride
15 year old aspiring pilot and fantastic fundraiser and ambassador for the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust, Willie McBride, was featured on Seven Sharp recently.
Willie has been a strong supporter of the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust since 2017, running successful events in 2017 and 2019 to raise funds for the ROA Mining Rescue Helicopter Service. Willie was determined to give back to the service that has helped his mother on multiple occasions. He has a true appreciation for the value of the service.
In total Willie has raised over $16,000 for the Trust; with each rescue mission requiring $5,000 of community support, his efforts will make a life-saving difference for at least three people in our community.
Willie plans to continue his fundraising efforts for the Trust and hopes to one day become a pilot for the rescue helicopter service. We at the Trust are very fortunate and privileged to welcome Willie on board as an ambassador, and wish him all the best for his flight training. We have no doubt that his determination will his dreams become a reality.
