Westpac Banking Corporation is the key business
sponsorship partner of the majority of New Zealand's regional air rescue services, underlining the bank's community support focus.
Westpac was approached to sponsor the service by pioneer rescue helicopter pilot, the late Peter Button, in 1981 and is the naming rights sponsor of the Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch rescue helicopter services. Westpac are also associate sponsor of the West Coast, Tauranga, Taupo, Palmerston North and Rotorua rescue helicopter trusts.
Combined, these services carry out over 3,000 rescues each year.

Annual Chopper Appeal
Westpac is major supporter of the Annual Chopper Awareness appeal, held in May each year to highlight the work of the air rescue service. The Chopper awareness month culminates in a nationwide Street Appeal with 100% of the money raised going to the rescue operations in the regions in which it is collected.
