Sponsorship support is vital for helicopter rescue

The Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust, which administers the daily operation of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, relies heavily on the generous support of a large number of individuals, businesses and service organisations to ensure the service continues to provide the high level of expertise and efficiency that the community relys on.

Existing sponsorship arrangements cover approximately 30% of operational costs while payments from ACC and hospitals account for another 30%. The remainder is raised from the community in continuing fund-raising efforts.

The Trust plays a very pro-active role in recognising the partnerships established with business sponsors and encourages close contact to maximise the return on a sponsors investment.

"Business sponsorship should be a win-win situation for both parties involved, " says Bridget Neill, Marketing and Communications Manager for the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust. " In exchange for financial or service support, we do all we can to promote a sponsors support and maximise their brand exposure through our communications and activities. We have a very positive connection with our sponsors and the feedback we receive suggests that their association with us is also paying dividends for them through their own marketing."
